The CPIA Exercise 2025 will be soon open.

What it is the CPIA

The Country Policy and Institutional Assessment (CPIA) is a tool used by the African Development Bank to assess how well countries are managing their policies and institutions to support growth and reduce poverty. It looks at all 54 African countries and helps the Bank understand how governments are performing in key areas such as economic management, public sector governance, and social inclusion. The results of the CPIA play a major role in how the Bank decides to share funding from the African Development Fund, making sure that resources are allocated fairly and used where they are needed most.

The CPIA is not just about funding—it also helps promote better policies and stronger institutions across the continent. The Bank uses an online platform to carry out these assessments, making the process more transparent, consistent, and easy to manage. The platform also serves as a knowledge hub, providing access to valuable data and past assessments that support learning and informed decision-making. By helping countries track progress and identify areas for improvement, the CPIA supports long-term development and better outcomes for people across Africa.
